Membership of Didcot Rotary Club

As President of the Rotary Club of Didcot I would like to welcome you to the Membership Area of our club website.
One of the first question I ask new members is “How is it that you have not joined Rotary until now?” One of the most usual answers is “I was never asked.”
Well you do not need to be asked because I am inviting YOU!
Other answers are, “I am too busy”
“Lunchtime is inconvenient”
“I thought Rotary was for men only” We welcome ladies to our Club.
So what can a Rotary Club offer YOU?
First of all Rotary is for business and professional people in the community who can offer some voluntary service locally. We also support projects nationally and internationally. You may be still working or retired, it does not matter, you can still MAKE A DIFFERENCE, and we are happy to accept whatever time you can give. In fact, many people are retiring early and wonder what to do with their lives after work; well we can use your skills. It is impossible in a short article to demonstrate what Rotary has to offer but here are a few items to consider:
- Friendship
- Fun & Entertainment
- Giving Back to the Community
- Business Developement
- Continued Learning Clubs organise programmes and weekly meeting to keep members informed as to what is happening in the community, country and the world. Each meeting provides an opportunity to listen to different speakers and on a variety of current topics.
- Travel Opportunities Every Rotarian is welcome – even encouraged – to visit any of the 33,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical regions whether on a business or pleasure trip, and this bond creates instant friendships.
In an increasingly complex world Rotary maintains a simply philosophy `make friends in your own community and throughout the world.
Rotary is fun......a lot of fun.
Every Rotary club and district arranges activities that provide a welcome distraction from a hectic business life. We are NOT a Political or Religious organisation
Through Rotary, service to the local and overseas communities is well organised and rewarding. If you like helping others, here is your chance to do something worthwhile and make a real difference.
Networking opportunities are endless, Rotary consists of a cross section from every business community and its members come from all walks of life. Rotarians help each other and collectively help others.
Didcot Rotary Club
Our Club has two main Fund Raising events a year. Truck Festival and Fireworks and it is the proceeds from these (£20-£30,000) that we can help local needy causes and charities plus some international aid and improvements. We also work with local schools on various projects, including Life Education programmes. Our members are also enthusiastically committed to the drive to wipe out Polio from the world. Since Rotary became involved in polio eradication in 1985, the number of reported polio cases has fallen from 350,000 a year to 1000. 125 endemic countries have been reduced to just 4 – Afghanistan, India, Pakistan and Nigeria; two billion children have been protected from the disease.
