Rotary donates thousands to help causes.

ROTARIANS have donated thousands of pounds over the festive season to six local, national and international good causes.

President of Didcot Rotary Club, “It is particularly pleasing that at this time of the year we can help others and we thank the public for supporting us at our events.”

Club members gave £5,000 to Africa’s Maili Trust, £1,000 to the Salvation Army ‘Crisis at Christmas’ appeal and £1,366 to Northbourne Stepping Stones Pre-School for new flooring.

They also presented the Bangladesh Cyclone Appeal with £1,000 for two shelter boxes which each contain two eight-man tents and sleeping bags. The same amount went to the Rotary Foundation, which provides further humanitarian help and grants throughout the world, whilst £500 went to St Anne’s Hospital in Liuli, Tanzania.

The members raised the money by selling thousands of burgers and bacon rolls at the Truck rock festival held at Steventon in September and organising the town’s charity firework display.
